• Mahogany Transom

I needed to recover a transom on a 1931 Herreshoff 31’ sloop that was being restored. I used 8 1/8” mahogany sheets applied with epoxy. I used Raptor composite staples to hold the sheets until the epoxy cured; there was no way to use clamps. The staples were set over a thin plastic sheet so there was no denting of the mahogany and the crown removed by sanding after the epoxy cured. The legs of the staples remained after the final sheet and then the transom was covered with 8 coats of varnish. The legs almost completely disappeared. I also use them in building strip built kayaks and they are excellent. Never any rusting or discoloration. They are perfect for anything that may encounter water.

  • Raptor for stage production set pieces

The Raptor nails have given us the ability to clamp materials down quickly but still remove them easily. We use a lot of lauan that can be somewhat wavy. The plastic nails hold it down flat. Our stage production, "Nathan the Wise" had 40 hours of machine time cutting intricate patterns into lauan to make lattice. Each panel was about 60 minutes of machine time. The Raptor Nails saved labor making it quick to load and unload material from the CNC router table.

We also used ¾" plywood to make all the dimensional boxes. Tops, sides, and faces were held down with ¼" Raptor nails. They saved us time by holding the parts in place and not having tabs on parts that would need to be cleaned off before assembly.
