    Hi Charles,
Thanks for your question. The longest staple we have is 9/16″. That would give you about 3/16″ penetration into your form, which is probably not enough. I would recommend using our B/18-080 3/4″ length brad nails for this. This would provide 3/8″ penetration into the form, which would give good holding strength, while the glue sets. Also, if your plywood will have some pretty good bend to it, the brads would be the recommended solution.

I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, please let us know.
    Thanks!

    Hi Mark,
RAPTOR® fasteners are extremely tool specific, so for the best performance, they must only be used in our Omer tools for Raptor that have been engineered for them. If Raptor nails are used in a different nailer, their effectiveness will be compromised, there will be a perentage of nails that will break, which will result in the jamming of your nailer. Thanks for the question!

    Hi Jerry,
The NF (no fill) and LF (low fill) are used in cases where lumber is going through a lumber mill and will be eventually cut with a delicate molder saw blade. For your boatbuilding application, neither one of these would be recommended. Our standard S/05 staple will be what you want to use, depending on the length needed. As you may already know, these can be sanded off after they have done their job of holding things together while your epoxy/glue sets. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Peter, It was good to speak with you. It sounds like the air pressure just needed adjusting. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at info@raptornails.com or 512-846-4027. Thanks!

We recommend having at least 3/8” of the fastener driven in to the bottom board. For your situation a 5/8” or 3/4” fastener would probably work best, however you may need longer fasteners if you ever plan on going through something thicker.

RAPTOR® Nails bond to wood. They reach their maximum holding power in wooden substrates if there is only about 3/8” penetration, and in harder woods less penetration may be needed. For 18mm (0.70”), a 1” or 1 ¼ ” 15Ga finish nail would be recommended. For 12mm (0.47”, a ¾” or 1” 15Ga finish nail would be recommended. They can easily be sanded flush, and will accept stain, which saves you the step of countersinking and puttying every nail hole.

As of now there is not yet a cordless electric staple gun that is compatible with Raptor Staples, however, we do have a solution available that uses a small portable liquid CO2 tank with our Omer tools. Please give us a call so we can discuss. (512) 846-4027

Yes, we have test data for shearing and tensile strength here https://raptornails.com/technical-information/polymer-composite-nails.php.

RAPTOR® fasteners must have a very tight fit in the drive chamber and so they must only be used in the tools that have been engineered for RAPTOR® fasteners.

Yes, RAPTOR® fasteners can be used in many types of wood, but it depends on the thickness, hardness, and density of the wood.

Generally, RAPTOR® fasteners can be cut, shaped and sanded with the wood without damaging bits, blades or abrasives. However, the glass fiber in our standard product can damage some HSS planer knives. If you use carbide planer knives then our standard product is fine, but for HSS knives, it is best to use our LF (low fill) or NF (no fill) products.

RAPTOR Nails and staples are a composite blend of polymer and fiberglass. More technical information can be found here https://raptornails.com/technical-information/polymer-composite-nails.php .

Depending on the hardness of the substrate, yes. If the wood or MDF material is too hard, then you definitely would need to pre-drill.

For CNC hold down, either the F/15 Chisel Point or Diamond Point nails seem to work well. For Particle board and getting into MDF, Diamond Point (F/15-125) seem to work better. It is important to use a length that will not penetrate the spoilboard more than about ¼ to ⅜”.
